Rose and I did a two night trip starting at Putara we tramped along the main range to Arete. Two hunters had flown into the hut for a few days so we camped next to the hut on a perfect cold night.

The next day we headed east over Bannister (the last of the 1500m peaks for me) along the gnarly route to cattle ridge and down to Roaring Stag were we swam in the river, ate dinner by an open fire and camped near the hut.

The next morning we walked out to Putara. It was a wonderful few days with my daughter in the magic Tararua range.
